Job Summary

Clark County Public Health’s (CCPH) mission is to work with others to protect and improve the health of all people in Clark County. We protect the community’s health by preventing disease and responding to health threats. We influence conditions that promote health, such as access to healthy and affordable foods, clean water, health care and neighborhoods that are safe for walking and biking. We minimize the impact of disease outbreaks through vaccination efforts, early detection, and swift responses. CCPH’s Healthy Communities program collaborates with community partners to make data-informed recommendations that are designed to positively impact living conditions and improve health outcomes for all people in Clark County.



Desired Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:


·         Knowledge of the concepts of institutional and structural racism and bias and their impact on the health of oppressed communities.

·         Knowledge of underlying causes of health inequities and intersectionalism, including the connection between racism, classism, ableism, sexism, other “isms” and health.

·         Knowledge of the diversity of perspectives and roles necessary to promote public health issues, including prioritizing respect and humility for non-white cultures.

·         Knowledge of Community Health Assessment (CHA) and Community Health Implementation Plan (CHIP) processes.

·         Skill and ability in project management, including planning, problem solving, coordinating with staff and community partners to meet established goals and objectives.

·         Skill in communicating effectively in interpersonal, visual, and written communications to a wide variety of individuals and groups.

·         Skill to facilitate group interaction and decision-making processes.

·         Skill to develop organizational, program, and policy recommendations based on sound assessment techniques.


Education and Experience:

Bachelor’s or master’s degree and three years of relevant experience in public health, environmental, education, planning, research or other related field, or the equivalent combination of education and experience to perform the essential functions of work.
