Job Description

The Chelan County Public Works Office is seeking applications for a full time Solid Waste Manager position. This position directs and coordinates community and rural solid waste programs including recycling, hazardous waste disposal, transfer station operations, compost facility operation, landfill closures, illegal dump sites and other contracts. Duties are performed independently or through subordinate supervisors. This position supervises operations and personnel at the Chelan County Dryden Transfer Station, Moderate Risk Waste Facility, main office, and within the litter program.

The salary range is Step 2 at $7,034.79 per month to step 8 at $9,352.47 per month. Starting salary is dependent on qualifications and experience. Employees receive a progression of steps until reaching Step 8. The position includes a state retirement system, with a deferred comp program available. Health insurance package includes Medical, Dental, and county contributions to a personal health savings account. Includes 11 paid holidays and 2 floating personal holidays along with monthly accrued vacation and sick leave.

This position requires a Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university; three (3) years’ experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience. A Washington State Driver’s license is required, in addition to the following certifications or the ability to obtain within 6 months of hire: Solid Waste Association/North America, Managing Transfer Station System Certification Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response per 29 CFR 1910.120/HAZWOPER.
