Full Salary Range (per hour):

Step 1 $25.20     Step 2 $26.72   Step 3 $28.32   Step 4 $30.02    Step 5 $31.82

Hiring Salary Range: Step 1 $25.20/hr. – Step 3 $28.32/hr. DOE

Job Summary:
The role involves managing and coordinating a community-based substance abuse prevention program. This includes planning, implementing, and evaluating the program, as well as facilitating the creation and growth of local prevention coalitions. The position also requires the development and delivery of educational presentations and programs for the community and partners. It is a non-exempt position under a collective bargaining agreement.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Human Services, Public Health, Behavioral Sciences, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Experience: Minimum of two years in a relevant role, demonstrating necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities.
  • Certifications: Must have a Certified Prevention Professional credential or obtain it within 18 months.
  • Other Requirements: Valid driver’s license, background check, driving record check, and pre-employment physical. Experience managing grant-funded programs is preferred.
  • Skills: Strong interest in youth substance abuse prevention, organizational and leadership skills, conflict resolution, cultural competence, research and communication skills, knowledge of substance abuse treatment, and proficiency with office software (Excel, Word, PowerPoint). Must also be able to work independently, manage multiple projects, and prioritize tasks.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Administer prevention programs, meeting grant requirements with accuracy and timeliness.
  • Facilitate local community coalitions, including youth, law enforcement, healthcare professionals, schools, and others.
  • Provide technical assistance, training, and support to coalition members.
  • Coordinate and oversee the development of the coalition’s strategic plans, needs assessments, and evaluations.
  • Monitor and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local program guidelines.
  • Develop and implement prevention strategies with community partners.
  • Manage program evaluations and prepare necessary reports for coalitions and stakeholders.
  • Represent the coalition at community events and participate in media campaigns.
  • Stay informed on substance abuse prevention research, techniques, and public health principles.

Working Conditions: Office and community-based settings with routine travel.
Occasional evening or weekend work for meetings, events, or training.
Physical demands may include lifting up to 50 lbs and exposure to volatile behaviors or contagious diseases.
This position offers the chance to actively shape community-driven prevention efforts and collaborate with a diverse set of stakeholders to combat substance abuse.
