Temporary NewJob Description
Position is temporary with full-time hours expected to last up to 6-months.
CORE DAILY RESPONSIBILITIES
Communicate and assist the public by responding to questions, direct inquiries and providing information or processing documents by correspondence, telephone or in person. Maintain and disburse forms and public information.
SCHEDULE
Monday – Friday, 8:00am – 4:30pm
This classification is primarily responsible for providing office and administrative support to staff within the department and the public to ensure the needs of the public are met in a positive, timely and efficient manner. Employees may be assigned general responsibilities or be assigned to a specific function within the department. Coordinate functions requiring a comprehensive understanding of the administrative and technical operations of the department and / or of countywide operations.
Knowledge of:
Public Records Act
Database management Business English, composition, grammar, spelling, punctuation, and format.
Office practices and procedures.
Standard office equipment, such as a computer, copier, FAX machine, scanners.
Open Public Meetings Act
Skill in:
Microsoft Suite.
Customer service.
Clear and effective writing
Document and prepare meeting minutes.
Ability to:
Work within regular and recurring work situations with occasional variations from the norm
Prioritize workload
Operate from established policies and practices, occasionally developing procedures for specific processes within their areas of responsibility
Operate with minimal supervision with assistance for new or unusual situations available from peers, supervisors, or professionals within their work area
Communicate effectively with the public providing information and assistance
Demonstrate attention to detail
Establish and maintain filing and record keeping systems.
Maintain the confidentiality of sensitive and confidential information.
Establish and maintain effective working relationships with stakeholders.
Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, regarding complex or sensitive issues.
Problem solve.
Minimum Qualifications:(Any equivalent combination of education and experience which provides the applicant with the knowledge, skills, and abilities required to perform the job may be considered.)
High School Diploma / GED
Two (2) years of office experience working with the public providing information and/or assistance
Pass Mason County MS Suite, typing and/or 10-key proficiency test
LICENSES, CERTIFICATES AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
Valid Washington State Driver’s License or appropriate accommodation may be required depending on position.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
AA Degree
Experience working in a public agency providing similar services
