Department: Parks & Trails Hourly Wage: $16.05
This position receives Washington State Paid Sick Leave-In accordance with RCW 49.46.210(1)(a); WAC 296-128-620(1).
Schedule: March or April through August or September (5 months), five-day work week, up to eight-hour shifts with flexible hours which may include weekdays, weekends, and some evenings.
Job Summary
Assists maintenance personnel with routine tasks related to the maintenance and operation of county park athletic fields, grounds, facilities, and structures.
Examples of Duties
Removes and disposes litter, garbage, and debris; cleans and sanitizes public restrooms; performs gardening and landscape tasks; prepares ball fields for league and tournament games; and assists with capital improvement projects.
Minimum Requirements
High school graduate or GED, experience in landscaping or light construction; ability to accomplish assignments within time frame and work with minimal supervision; ability to perform the physical requirements of this position including bending, heavy lifting, and exposure to variable weather conditions; ability to operate pick up truck and various power and hand tools. Must have valid WA State Driver’s License with good driving record (selected candidate will be required to provide driver’s abstract record) and must pass WA State Patrol criminal background check.

Health Insurance – Regular full-time employees and their qualifying dependents are eligible for medical, dental, vision, and life insurance coverage. Some regular part-time employees may receive the same coverage. Employees may partially contribute premiums depending upon the type of coverage selected.
Paid Leave – Sick leave, holidays, and vacation are provided in accordance with the County policy or union contracts. Vacation accrual rates increase at regular intervals based on length of service with the County.
Retirement Plan – All regular Mason County employees are enrolled in the Washington State Public Employee’s Retirement System (PERS, PSERS or LEOFF). The County and employees contribute jointly to the plans.
