Pay Range: $9,252-$11,734 per month (Non-Bargaining Pay Plan, D72 Step 1-13)
Hiring Range: $9,252 – $9,819 per month (Non-Bargaining Pay Plan, D72 Step 1-4 DOQ)

There is one Senior Manager III opening with the Yakima County Public Services, Solid Waste Division. This position is responsible for overseeing and managing all functions of the Solid Waste Division of Public Services including the development, interpretation, adjustment and implementation of solid waste policies. Developing, implementing, administering, assigning and coordinating resources, staff and activities for the County Solid Waste Management Program and establishing program precedence. The Solid Waste Division includes two active landfills, one closed landfill (currently undergoing remediation actions), two transfer stations, a moderate risk waste facility, a moderate risk waste satellite facility, septage lagoons, satellite oil collection sites, outreach & education and recycling program, and operates two enclosed flares as part of two gas collection and control systems. Position oversees multiple grants and is the responsible party for multiple reports to several regulatory agencies.

Education & Experience:

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Planning, Environmental Studies, Accounting, Public Administration or Business and  Eight (8) years of progressively responsible related experience, including three years in a supervisory and managerial capacity; or an equivalent combination of education and experience which provides knowledge, skills and abilities sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job specifically solid waste engineering and/or handling.

Note: A Master’s Degree in Engineering or related field of study will count as  one year of work experience.  A Doctor’s Degree in Engineering or related field of study will count as two years of work experience.

 

Required:

Valid State of Washington Driver’s License and proof of insurance, if requested.

Financial Background Check

SWANA Manager of Landfill Operations Certification (MOLO), or ability to obtain within one year of appointment.

SWANA Transfer Station Systems Manager Certification, or ability to obtain within one year of appointment.

DOT Hazardous Material Transportation Certification, or ability to obtain within one year of appointment.

Successful completion of a comprehensive background check prior to employment.

Successful completion of a driving record check prior to employment.

40 hour HAZWOPER Certification or ability to obtain within one year of appointment
