The salary for this position is $23.27 hourly.

Thurston County Public Works is recruiting for a temporary Senior Office Assistant to join our dynamic, energetic, and innovative team. The successful candidate will provide assistance to the Public Works Records Management Project team by doing survey data creation and entry, completing transmittals and destruction logs, and helping to organize files.

***This temporary position generally works 40 hours per week and is anticipated to last six (6) months from the hire date.***

Essential functions may include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Enter metadata into content management platform.
  • Complete various documents and forms to archive or destroy records.
  • Create and maintain logs to track documents.
  • Review files and documents to identify retention values.
  • Organize and maintain hard copy records.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Work Environment – Duties are performed in an office setting.
  • Schedule – Monday – Friday, 8:00 am–5:00 pm, with the potential option of an alternative schedule.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Two years’ experience in an office environment with responsibility for performing a full range of senior level office support tasks, including experience providing information and assistance to the general public.
  • Ability to type at a minimum of 55 wpm.
  • Ability to fully utilize a personal computer and related software programs.
  • Washington State Driver’s License may be required.

 

DESIRED SKILLS:

  • Previous records management and/or public records experience
  • Organized, detail oriented and thorough
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and written
  • Microsoft Office experience
  • Ability to work independently
  • Problem solving skills
  • Experience working with Washington State Records Retention Schedules
